On Sunday, Tripura's Chief Minister Manik Saha announced that the state government will allocate over 30 acres of land for the establishment of a cricket academy. This initiative aims to benefit not only players from Tripura but also those from other regions across the country.
Enhancing Cricket Infrastructure
During the Tripura Cricket Association's (TCA) Annual Awards Ceremony 2026 in Agartala, Saha emphasized the importance of improving cricket infrastructure, coaching, and support systems to foster young talent. He stated, "Having served as the President of the Tripura Cricket Association, I have been actively involved in advancing cricket in our state. It is essential to provide excellent sports facilities, quality coaching, and skilled physiotherapists to nurture our players. We have made significant decisions regarding the cricket academy, and I am pleased to announce that we will provide more than 30 acres of land for its construction. This facility will cater to aspiring cricketers from Tripura and beyond."

Saha also took to social media to share the government's initiatives aimed at enhancing cricket infrastructure, revealing that approximately 30 acres of land has been designated at Sekerkote for the new academy. We are committed to offering more opportunities for the youth through sports."
He further noted, "I am thrilled to announce that the state government has allocated around 30 acres at Sekerkote for a state-of-the-art cricket academy. Additionally, the construction of the international cricket stadium at Narsingarh is nearing completion. I was honored to attend the TCA's annual award ceremony at Rabindra Shatabarshiki Bhavan in Agartala, where we celebrated the achievements of our talented cricketers."
