Tripura Chief Minister's Response to Tragic Incident

On December 28, Agartala: Chief Minister of Tripura, Manik Saha, announced that his counterpart in Uttarakhand, Pushkar Singh Dhami, has committed to apprehending all individuals involved in the murder of a Tripura resident in Dehradun.

"I have already discussed the unfortunate incident concerning our student Angel Chakma, who was viciously attacked by a group of assailants in Dehradun on December 9 and later died at Graphic Era Hospital," Saha informed reporters at Hezamara in West Tripura district.

Describing the event as tragic and unforeseen, he mentioned that Dhami has confirmed the arrest of five suspects, while one remains at large.

"The leadership in Delhi, aware of the situation, has also instructed the Uttarakhand government to take necessary actions to ensure justice for the victim's family," he added.

Pradyot Kishore Manikya Debbarma, leader of the Tipra Motha Party (TMP), has pledged that those responsible for Chakma's murder, a final semester MBA student, will face appropriate consequences.

"I personally reached out to the victim's family on Saturday. We will ensure that justice is served. I urge everyone, including members of the Youth Tipra Federation (YTF), to support the family during this difficult time," he posted on social media.

The TMP's youth wing (YTF) expressed, "We stand united with the family in this time of deep sorrow. Those accountable for this atrocious act must be swiftly identified and brought to justice. We call on the authorities to conduct a fair, comprehensive, and timely investigation to uphold accountability."

Chakma, 24, from Nandannagar in West Tripura district, was assaulted by a group of six individuals after he confronted them about a racial slur in Dehradun on December 9, ultimately succumbing to his injuries on December 26.
