Prime Minister Modi Remembers Swraj Paul

Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed his condolences on the passing of prominent Indian-origin businessman Swraj Paul, who resided in the UK. He noted on Friday that Paul's contributions to strengthening the ties between India and Britain would always be cherished.

Lord Swraj Paul passed away on Thursday evening in London at the age of 94. In a post on 'X', Modi shared his sorrow, stating, 'I am deeply saddened by the demise of Shri Swraj Paul.'

He highlighted Paul's significant impact in industry, philanthropy, and public service, along with his unwavering support for India's close relationship with the UK. Modi reminisced about their numerous meetings and extended his sympathies to Paul's family and admirers, concluding with 'Om Shanti.'

The founder of the Caparo Group of Industries, Lord Paul had recently fallen ill and was hospitalized. Originally from Jalandhar, he moved to the UK in the 1960s for his daughter Ambika's treatment.
