Police Secure Transit Remand for Accused

On Monday, the Shillong Police successfully acquired a seven-day transit remand for three suspects involved in the Raja Raghuvanshi murder investigation from a Madhya Pradesh court.


Further Investigation in Shillong


The suspects—Akash Rajput, Vishal Singh Chauhan, and Raj Singh Kushwaha—will be transported to Shillong for additional questioning.


Fourth Suspect to Appear in Court


According to Additional DCP (Crime) Rajesh Dandotiya, the suspects were presented before the Chief Judicial Magistrate, who granted the transit remand. The fourth suspect, Anand, is currently being brought to Indore from Sagar, Bina (Madhya Pradesh), and is scheduled to appear in court on Tuesday. All four suspects will then be taken to Shillong by the police.


Raja Raghuvanshi was reportedly murdered during a honeymoon trip in Meghalaya, allegedly by contract killers hired by his wife, Sonam Raghuvanshi.


Details of the Murder


Meghalaya's Special Investigation Team (SIT) Chief Herbert Pyniaid Kharkongor revealed that the post-mortem report indicated Raja Raghuvanshi suffered two head injuries inflicted by a sharp weapon.


Kharkongor stated, "The post-mortem confirmed two head injuries caused by a sharp cutting instrument."


Sonam Raghuvanshi Located


Sonam Raghuvanshi, the widow of Raja Raghuvanshi, was discovered near a roadside eatery on the Varanasi-Ghazipur highway, as reported by a senior official from the Uttar Pradesh Police on Monday.


Previously, Meghalaya Police had visited the Sakhi-One Stop Centre in Ghazipur, where Sonam was being held, before taking her to the District Hospital for a medical evaluation.


Additionally, the Madhya Pradesh Police have stationed personnel outside Sonam's residence in Indore.
