Significant Advancements in Healthcare

The Union Health Minister, JP Nadda, highlighted the remarkable transformations in India's healthcare sector during an event at PGIMER in Chandigarh on July 17. He emphasized the 2017 National Health Policy as a pivotal shift towards a more comprehensive and preventive healthcare model. Addressing attendees at the inauguration and foundation-laying ceremony of healthcare projects, Nadda noted that under Modi's leadership, India has made substantial progress across various sectors over the past 12 years.

Nadda remarked that the achievements in the healthcare sector under the Prime Minister's guidance are unprecedented. He explained that the 2017 National Health Policy was significantly different from previous approaches, focusing not only on treatment but also on disease prevention and enhancing public health. He stated that this policy, developed in 2017, marked a departure from earlier health policies, adopting a more inclusive and holistic perspective aimed at ensuring that people do not fall ill.

The Minister further elaborated that the policy encompasses health promotion, disease prevention, pain management, elderly care, and recovery-supporting health services, thereby enhancing the government's capacity to serve India's population of over 1.4 billion. He also recalled Narendra Modi's longstanding connection with Chandigarh, referring to it as the Prime Minister's workplace and a crucial hub for the BJP's organizational expansion in North India.

Nadda pointed out that Chandigarh is the Prime Minister's own city, where he has dedicated considerable time to party activities. It has become a center from which the BJP has expanded its organization in Jammu and Kashmir, Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, Haryana, and Chandigarh. During this event, Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated several healthcare projects at PGIMER in Chandigarh and laid their foundations.
