Devastating Fire Incident in Thane

A severe fire broke out in a warehouse complex located in Thane district, resulting in the death of one individual, as reported by an official on Sunday. The incident occurred at approximately 4:50 PM on Saturday, affecting eight warehouses in total.


Efforts to control the blaze are still ongoing. Vijay Jadhav, a fire officer from the Bhivandi Nizampur Municipal Corporation, indicated that the fire likely originated in a chemical storage area within the Prerna Complex in the Dapodi village of Bhivandi and rapidly spread from there.


Witnesses reported seeing a large plume of smoke rising from the site. Jadhav mentioned that the charred body of a person was recovered from one of the warehouses during the night. The identity of the deceased has yet to be confirmed, and the body has been sent to a government hospital for an autopsy.


According to officials, the fire has caused damage to eight warehouses, some of which contained chemicals while others stored cardboard. Firefighting units from Bhivandi, Thane, Kalyan, Navi Mumbai, Ulhasnagar, and Ambernath are actively engaged in extinguishing the flames, with assistance from several private water tankers.


Authorities have cordoned off the area and redirected traffic to alternate routes. An investigation into the cause of the fire is currently underway.
