Fatal Accident in Sundargarh District

On Tuesday, a devastating road accident in Sundargarh district of Odisha resulted in the deaths of two truck drivers who were burned alive. The incident occurred when two trucks collided head-on, igniting a fire. This tragic event took place near the Bhisma police station area on National Highway 10.

According to initial reports, one truck was traveling from Jharsuguda towards Sundargarh when the driver lost control. The vehicle crossed over the median and entered the opposite lane, where it collided with another truck heading from Sundargarh to Jharsuguda.

Intense Fire Erupts Immediately After Collision

Following the collision, both vehicles were severely damaged. Reports indicate that the diesel tank of one truck exploded during the crash, leading to a rapid and fierce fire. The flames spread quickly, engulfing both trucks, which were reduced to ashes in a matter of moments. Upon receiving news of the accident, police and fire department personnel rushed to the scene. Firefighters managed to control the blaze; however, both drivers were trapped inside their vehicles and could not escape. By the time rescue teams arrived, both individuals had perished in the flames. Officials noted that the intensity of the fire severely charred the bodies, making immediate identification challenging. The identities of the deceased drivers have not yet been confirmed.
