While traveling between Gatora and Bilaspur railway stations, the passenger train struck the goods train from behind, officials reported.
Bilaspur Collector Sanjay Agrawal confirmed to the media that four deaths have been verified, with two individuals still trapped inside the wreckage as rescue efforts continue.
Injured passengers have been transported to Apollo Hospital and the Chhattisgarh Institute of Medical Sciences (CIMS) in Bilaspur, with one person's condition reported as critical.
