Fatal Train Accident in Chhattisgarh


Bilaspur (Chhattisgarh): A tragic incident occurred on Tuesday when a passenger train collided with a goods train near Bilaspur station, resulting in at least four fatalities and numerous injuries, according to railway officials.


The collision happened around 4 PM as the MEMU (mainline electric multiple unit) passenger train was en route to Bilaspur from Gevra, located in the adjacent Korba district.


While traveling between Gatora and Bilaspur railway stations, the passenger train struck the goods train from behind, officials reported.


Bilaspur Collector Sanjay Agrawal confirmed to the media that four deaths have been verified, with two individuals still trapped inside the wreckage as rescue efforts continue.


Injured passengers have been transported to Apollo Hospital and the Chhattisgarh Institute of Medical Sciences (CIMS) in Bilaspur, with one person's condition reported as critical.
