Initial reports suggest that a rumor about a fire in the Udaipur Intercity Express spread among passengers, causing widespread panic and chaos inside the train. In a desperate attempt to escape, passengers pulled the emergency chain, halting the train mid-journey.
Passengers Flee onto Tracks, Leading to Further Tragedy
As the train came to a stop, many frightened passengers opened the coach doors and jumped onto the railway tracks, running for safety. At that moment, the fast-moving Patalkot Express approached from the opposite direction, leaving no time for those on the tracks to react. Tragically, several individuals were struck by the oncoming train.
Casualties and Injuries Reported
The heartbreaking incident resulted in the deaths of six individuals, including three women and a young child. Additionally, numerous other passengers sustained serious injuries. Upon receiving news of the accident, railway authorities and local police quickly arrived at the scene to initiate rescue operations. However, official confirmation regarding the exact number of casualties and injuries is still pending from the authorities.
Train's Route and Investigation
Reports indicate that the Udaipur Intercity Express was traveling from Gwalior towards Morena when a passenger falsely claimed there was a fire in the coach. This misinformation led to a stampede, culminating in a tragic accident. The police are currently investigating who spread the fire rumor and the reasons behind it.
