Fatal Tiger Encounter in Bandipur

A tragic incident occurred in the Bandipur Tiger Reserve area of Karnataka, where a 32-year-old woman lost her life due to a tiger attack. This information was confirmed by officials on Friday.


The victim has been identified as Puttamma, a resident of the Gundlupet taluka in Chamarajanagar district.


According to forest officials, the attack took place on Thursday afternoon while the woman was grazing her livestock. Reports indicate that the tiger attacked her and dragged her approximately 100 meters away from the scene.


Upon learning of the incident, local villagers promptly notified the forest department. Officials arrived at the site to recover the body, which will be handed over to the family following a post-mortem examination.


Bandipur's forest conservator, Prabhakaran, confirmed that the woman died as a result of the tiger attack. He also mentioned that a search operation has been initiated to identify the tiger responsible for the attack. Additionally, he stated, 'We have installed cameras in the area to monitor tiger activities and ensure safety.'
