Tragic Suicide of Young Woman in Bihar After Betrayal

Heartbreaking Incident in Banka District

Banka News: A tragic event has unfolded in the Amarpur police area of Banka district, Bihar. A 19-year-old woman named Lado Khatoon took her own life by consuming poison after being devastated by her lover's infidelity and social humiliation. No one anticipated that her marital journey, which began just ten months ago, would end in such a horrific manner. Lado was married to Mohammad Hasib from Bounsi in July 2025 with great fanfare. The first four months of their marriage were smooth, but in the fifth month, Lado fell for a neighbor, Gufran, leading to a secret romantic affair unbeknownst to her husband.

Ten days prior to the incident, Lado had returned to her parental home with Hasib. On Wednesday, while Hasib was out shopping, Gufran seized the opportunity to visit Lado at her home. When Hasib unexpectedly returned, he caught them in a compromising situation. Upon confronting them, Gufran called his friends, who brutally assaulted Hasib.

‘I Will Not Marry’

To resolve the matter, a village council was convened. During the lengthy discussions, when Lado was asked if Gufran would accept her or marry her, he categorically refused in front of everyone. This betrayal from her lover and the fear of rejection from her husband shattered Lado's mental state.

Passed Away During Treatment

Overwhelmed by humiliation from the council and fearing a bleak future, Lado consumed a poisonous substance late at night. Her family rushed her to Mayaganj Hospital in Bhagalpur, but she succumbed to her injuries on Thursday morning. The police have taken possession of the body for an autopsy and have filed a case against Gufran and his accomplices, initiating further legal action.
