Tragic Suicide of Three Sisters in Ghaziabad Linked to Online Gaming Addiction
Heartbreaking Incident in Ghaziabad
The last words of three sisters, aged 12, 14, and 16, were reportedly "Sorry, Papa," before they tragically jumped from the ninth floor of their residential building in Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh. This heartbreaking event occurred around 2 AM on Wednesday. Their deaths have drawn attention to a Korean gaming app, the identity of which remains unknown, and it is believed that the girls were addicted to it. Their father informed a news outlet that police had indicated the girls were engaged in a task-based online game.
Inside their room, authorities discovered a note on the wall. It contained a message accompanied by crying emojis, stating, "Everything written in this diary is true; read it now." The sisters, identified as Nishika (16), Prachi (14), and Pakhi (12), expressed their apologies to their parents in the note, which included a crying emoji and read, "A true story. Read everything in this diary because it is all true. I am truly very sorry, sorry Papa."
Details of the Note and Investigation
The note further elaborated, "This is a true life story. Read everything in this diary because it is all true. I am truly very sorry, sorry Papa." Additionally, the wall writing revealed a deep sense of loneliness, stating, "I am very, very alone. My life is very, very lonely." Police sources indicated that they are investigating multiple angles, including the sisters' alleged addiction to the Korean gaming app, which involved various tasks.
Authorities noted that the sisters were influenced by Korean culture and spent considerable time on the app. Their father, Chetan Kumar, was unaware of such an app. Speaking to a news outlet, visibly shaken by the incident, he mentioned that the gaming app contained 50 tasks, with the last one being completed the day before. He learned about the app's impact on his daughters from forensic experts who were called to the scene after the incident.
Community Response and Ongoing Investigation
The tragedy came to light when residents of the society heard a loud noise. The police were soon alerted, and the girls' bodies were taken for post-mortem examinations. During the search of the family's flat, investigators found the suicide note, which has been secured as part of the investigation. A photograph taken shortly after the incident showed family pictures scattered alongside a page of notes.
Law enforcement officials are currently questioning family members and examining the girls' mobile phones and digital activities. Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Nimish Patil stated that the family had restricted mobile phone usage for a few days, and so far, no information regarding the tasks or games has been uncovered.
