Tragic Suicide of NEET Aspirant in Kota Raises Concerns

NEET Aspirant's Suicide in Kota
An 18-year-old NEET aspirant from Jammu and Kashmir tragically took her own life by hanging in her paying guest accommodation located at Pratap Chauraha in Kota, as reported by local authorities on Monday.
This incident marks the 15th suicide case this year and the second in the current month alone. Ramesh Kaviya, the area inspector at Mahavir Nagar police station, revealed that the young woman, identified as Jishan, had communicated with a relative over the phone shortly before her death, expressing her suicidal thoughts.
Concerned for her safety, the relative, Burhan, immediately contacted another student, Mamta, who lived in the same building, to inquire about Jishan's well-being. Upon reaching Jishan's room, Mamta found the door locked and raised an alarm for help.
A crowd quickly gathered, and with the assistance of a carpenter nearby, they used a grinder to break down the door. Inside, they discovered Jishan hanging from the ceiling fan.
Medical personnel at the hospital pronounced her dead upon arrival. According to police reports, Jishan had enrolled in a coaching institute in the city to prepare for the medical entrance exam but had returned to Kota just a month ago, opting to study independently without re-enrolling in any institution.
Authorities noted that there was no 'anti-hanging device' installed in her room. This device is a rod that connects from a hook in the ceiling to the upper part of the fan, designed to prevent hanging by collapsing under excessive weight. A similar tragic incident occurred on May 3, when another NEET aspirant from Madhya Pradesh committed suicide in her room just a day before the exam.
