Tragic Suicide Note of Kanpur Lawyer Reveals Years of Torture
A Heartbreaking Farewell
In a tragic turn of events, Priyanshu Srivastava, a 23-year-old trainee lawyer from Kanpur, penned a poignant suicide note detailing his struggles and the emotional turmoil he faced at home. He expressed his final wish for everyone to read his note thoroughly, stating that he was taking this drastic step of his own volition, free from any coercion.
Priyanshu, who completed his law studies in 2025, lamented that he could not register with the Uttar Pradesh Bar Council due to time constraints. His note reveals a painful childhood marked by mental anguish, beginning at the tender age of six. He recounted an incident where he was punished harshly for drinking mango juice from the fridge, which left him feeling suffocated by his parents' strictness.
He described the relentless pressure he faced regarding his studies, where even minor mistakes led to severe repercussions. The constant scrutiny and demands from his father created an unbearable environment, leading him to feel unworthy of life.
Priyanshu also shared how he was forced to choose subjects in school that did not interest him, resulting in poor academic performance. The fear of losing his family's respect drove him to run away from home at one point.
He reflected on the humiliation he endured, including being belittled for past mistakes and being labeled with derogatory terms by his father. Despite his efforts to contribute to the family financially, he felt unappreciated and constantly criticized.
In his final moments, Priyanshu expressed his despair over the lack of understanding from his parents and the overwhelming pressure he faced daily. He stated that he could no longer bear the humiliation and planned to end his life in the court premises.
He urged parents to exercise moderation in their discipline and expressed a heartfelt wish that his father would not touch his body after his death. Priyanshu concluded his note with love for his mother and sister, leaving behind a haunting message about the consequences of parental pressure.
