Tragic Suicide in Maharashtra: Man Sets Himself on Fire Amid Financial Struggles

Late Sunday night in Palghar district, Maharashtra, a 35-year-old man reportedly committed suicide by setting himself on fire due to financial distress, according to police reports. The incident occurred around 12:40 AM in the Fulapada area of Virar.
The deceased has been identified as Akhilesh Vishwakarma, who operated a welding shop in the locality. Senior Inspector L.M. Ture from the Virar police station stated that preliminary investigations revealed the man had been suffering from depression linked to ongoing financial difficulties and debts.
In a desperate attempt to save him, his wife and nephew sustained burns; his wife suffered minor injuries, while his nephew was severely injured and is currently receiving treatment at a local hospital.
Emergency Response
Upon receiving the alert, firefighters arrived at the scene to extinguish the flames. The authorities have sent the body for a post-mortem examination and have registered an accidental death case in connection with the incident.
