Chitradurga, April 2: A tragic incident has emerged from Holalkere town in Karnataka's Chitradurga district, where a 23-year-old Ayurveda student reportedly took her own life due to distress caused by defamatory rumors linking her to a lecturer, according to police reports.
The young woman, identified as Likhitha, was a student at an Ayurveda college in Malladihalli. She was discovered hanging at her home in Basava Layout.
Initial investigations suggest that Likhitha was deeply troubled by false allegations suggesting a romantic involvement with Professor Dr. Raju, which severely impacted her reputation.
Sources indicate that she left a suicide note naming Dr. Raju, his wife Nisha, and several classmates, accusing them of harassment and defamation, which she cited as the reasons for her tragic decision.
In response to the complaint, the Holalkere Police have initiated a case and filed an FIR against the lecturer, his spouse, and the students mentioned in the note. An inquiry is underway to determine the events leading to this heartbreaking situation.
Additional details are pending.
