Stampede Incident at Mansa Devi Temple

A tragic incident occurred at the Mansa Devi Temple in Haridwar, Uttarakhand, on Sunday, resulting in the deaths of six devotees and injuring approximately thirty others, as reported by a police official.


According to Senior Superintendent of Police Pramendra Dobhal, the stampede was triggered along the temple route. He mentioned that over 35 injured individuals have been admitted to hospitals, with some being referred to higher health centers for advanced care.


Dobhal indicated that initial reports suggest the chaos was sparked by rumors of an electric shock spreading through the crowd. The incident took place around 9:30 AM on the stairway leading to the temple.


Uttarakhand's Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami expressed his sorrow over the incident. He shared a post on social media, describing the stampede as extremely unfortunate.


The Chief Minister stated that the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF), local police, and other rescue teams have arrived at the scene to conduct relief operations. He added, “I am in constant contact with the local administration, and we are closely monitoring the situation. I pray for the safety of all devotees.”
