Tragic Stampede at Goa Temple Festival Claims Lives and Injures Many

Fatal Incident at Lairai Devi Temple
On Saturday, a stampede at a temple in Goa resulted in the deaths of six individuals, with over 15 others sustaining injuries, as reported by local sources.
The tragic event occurred at the Lairai Devi temple located in Shrigao, coinciding with the start of an annual festival that began on Friday, according to North Goa Superintendent of Police Akshat Kaushal.
The injured victims were promptly transported to a hospital in the nearby town of Mapusa for treatment, as indicated by local media.
Chief Minister Pramod Sawant visited the hospital on Saturday morning to check on the injured.
Health Minister Vishwajit Rane confirmed that Goa Medical College and district hospitals were fully prepared and on high alert to handle the situation effectively.
