Stampede Incident Claims Lives in Bengaluru
On June 4, a tragic stampede occurred outside the Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru, resulting in the deaths of 11 individuals and leaving many others injured. In a new development, a complaint has been lodged against Indian cricketer and RCB team member Virat Kohli. The complaint was filed by social activist H.M. Venkatesh at the Kamban Park police station in Bengaluru, although the police have yet to register an FIR.
Venkatesh's complaint alleges that Kohli has promoted gambling through the IPL, which he claims incited large gatherings, ultimately leading to the stampede. He stated that the IPL is not merely a sport but a form of gambling that has tainted cricket. As a prominent figure of the RCB team, Kohli is implicated in this issue. Venkatesh has requested that Kohli and his team be named as accused in the FIR and that legal action be taken against them.
According to reports from a news agency, police officials have indicated that the complaint against Virat Kohli will be reviewed as part of the ongoing investigation into the case. As of now, no separate FIR has been filed against him.
So far, four individuals have been arrested in connection with this incident, including senior RCB official Nikhil Sosale and three individuals associated with event management. They were apprehended on the morning of June 6 during a joint operation by the Kamban Park police and the Central Crime Branch at Kempegowda International Airport.
