Tragic Shooting on Aligarh Muslim University Campus: Teacher Killed in Shocking Incident

Aligarh: A tragic incident unfolded at Aligarh Muslim University in Uttar Pradesh, where a 43-year-old educator was fatally shot, causing widespread alarm among students and faculty.
The victim, identified as Rao Danish, was a former student of the university and had dedicated the last 11 years to teaching at the ABK High School located on campus.
Reports indicate that on Wednesday evening, Danish was out for his usual walk with two colleagues when the attack occurred.
At approximately 8:50 PM, two individuals on a scooter confronted the group, brandishing a firearm. Danish was shot multiple times, including twice in the head, according to police accounts.
Following his routine, Rao Danish Hilal had ventured out for a stroll after dinner when he was targeted near the canteen behind the Maulana Azad Library.
Senior Superintendent of Police Neeraj Jadon confirmed that both assailants opened fire on the victim.
After the shooting, Danish was quickly transported to Jawaharlal Nehru Medical College, where he was pronounced dead upon arrival. The incident took place close to the university's central library, an area typically bustling in the evenings.
AMU Proctor Mohd Wasim Ali confirmed the shooting, stating, "We received reports around 9 PM that a shooting had occurred near the library, and a man was injured and being taken for medical assistance. We later learned that the victim was Danish Rao, a teacher at the ABK School, who suffered a gunshot wound to the head and died at the medical facility."
In the aftermath, Vice-Chancellor Naima Khatoon and senior university officials visited the hospital.
High-ranking police officials, including SSP Neeraj Jadoun, SP City Mrigank Shekhar Pathak, and CO Civil Lines Sarvam Kumar, arrived at the scene to initiate an investigation.
Local police, along with a dog squad and forensic team, were deployed to gather evidence and analyze the crime scene.
Authorities are currently reviewing CCTV footage from the campus and nearby areas to identify the suspects and track their movements.
A case has been registered based on initial findings and complaints, and the investigation is actively ongoing.
The police have assured the public that all possible angles are being explored, and they are committed to resolving the case promptly.
