Tragic Shooting of Pizza Delivery Driver in Philadelphia Raises Questions
Incident Overview
A pizza delivery driver from India was tragically shot and killed in Philadelphia shortly after completing a late-night delivery. The victim, identified as 28-year-old Anshul Kuncha, was discovered with a gunshot wound to the head outside the Raymond Rosen Homes in North Philadelphia around 12:30 a.m. on Friday, as reported by local authorities.
According to police, Kuncha had just delivered several pizza boxes to an apartment within the housing complex moments before the shooting occurred. However, investigators later found that the delivery address was a vacant unit, raising suspicions about the nature of the order.
Chief Inspector Scott Small stated that officers found Kuncha unresponsive on the ground, suffering from severe injuries. He was quickly transported to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
Authorities traced the delivery back to Pete's Pizza, where Kuncha was employed. Inside the empty apartment, officers discovered three untouched pizza boxes and a delivery bag, indicating that the order had been completed prior to the shooting.
At the crime scene, police recovered three spent shell casings near the victim's body, suggesting that the shooter was in close proximity when the shots were fired. Additionally, Kuncha's vehicle was located nearby, with a pizza warmer still inside.
Surveillance footage from the Philadelphia Housing Authority captured parts of the incident. Although the actual shooting was not recorded, it showed two individuals dressed in dark clothing following Kuncha shortly before the attack, with one suspect appearing to carry a dark backpack.
No arrests have been made at this time, but police have obtained the phone number used to place the pizza order, which they are pursuing as a significant lead in the investigation. The motive for the shooting remains unclear, and authorities are continuing to analyze surveillance footage and collect evidence in their search for the suspects.
