Patna, July 20: A shocking incident occurred in Bihar's Samastipur district on Monday when an unidentified gunman shot a Class 12 student while she was en route to school, causing widespread panic in the community.
Details of the Attack
The tragic event unfolded in the morning hours in Kejiya village, which falls under the jurisdiction of the Vaini police station.
As per police reports, the victim, a student at Kasturba Vidyalaya, had just left her home dressed in her school uniform when she was ambushed close to her residence.
The attackers reportedly fired several shots, resulting in her immediate death before fleeing the scene.
Police Response and Investigation
Law enforcement arrived promptly after being alerted about the shooting and initiated an investigation.
During their initial assessment, officers discovered four spent bullet casings at the crime scene.
Forensic teams and the District Investigation Unit (DIU) were summoned to gather forensic evidence and aid in the ongoing investigation.
Preliminary Findings
Initial reports suggest that the student may have sustained three gunshot wounds, although the precise count will be confirmed following the autopsy. Her body has been sent for a post-mortem examination.
Sadar-1 SDPO Sanjay Kumar Pandey condemned the act as a grave crime and emphasized that the investigation is being prioritized.
