Shooting Incident in Batala, Punjab


State Desk | Batala (Gurdaspur), Punjab. A serious incident has emerged in the Batala area of Gurdaspur district, Punjab, stemming from a land dispute. In Mundri Karal village, a young man allegedly shot and killed his aunt, cousin, and a friend. Following this, the suspect took his own life by shooting himself.


Reports indicate that the accused, Manjot Singh, was embroiled in a family dispute regarding the division of land. Late Tuesday night, tensions escalated, leading him to enter his home and open fire on his aunt, Harjeet Kaur, and his 12-year-old cousin, resulting in their deaths.


During the chaos, the accused's friend, Pargat Singh, who attempted to intervene, was also shot and died at the scene. Afterward, the suspect turned the gun on himself.


Upon receiving news of the incident, police arrived promptly, securing the bodies and sending them for autopsy. Authorities are currently investigating the case and gathering details regarding the motives behind this tragic event.
