Ottawa: A shooting incident in Surrey, Canada, has resulted in the death of a man of Indian descent, as reported by local news outlets. The event took place on Saturday night at a townhouse complex in Sullivan Heights, where the victim was fatally shot.


The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT) confirmed on Monday that the deceased has been identified as 27-year-old Jasman Sekhon, according to CTV News.


Sekhon had a history of police encounters and was suspected of being involved in drug-related activities. Initial reports indicate that this shooting was a targeted act linked to organized crime, as stated by the IHIT.


Witnesses recounted that Sekhon was pursued by a dark SUV before two individuals exited the vehicle and opened fire on him.


Emergency responders found Sekhon suffering from gunshot wounds but were unable to revive him.


A vehicle engulfed in flames was discovered nearby, which authorities believe may be connected to the gang-related shooting.
