Tragic School Building Collapse in Rajasthan Claims Lives of Four Children
Devastating Incident in Jhalawar District
On Friday, a tragic incident occurred in the Jhalawar district of Rajasthan when a government school building collapsed, resulting in the deaths of four children and injuring 17 others, according to police reports. The collapse took place at the Peepalodi Government School in the Manohar Thana block while students were attending classes.
Amit Kumar, the Superintendent of Police in Jhalawar, confirmed the fatalities and injuries, stating that ten of the injured children have been referred to Jhalawar, with three to four in critical condition.
Rescue efforts were aided by teachers and local residents who helped pull the children from the debris. Education Minister Madan Dilawar announced that a high-level investigation into the incident will be conducted. He instructed officials to reach the site immediately and ensure proper medical treatment for the injured.
Dilawar expressed his sorrow over the unfortunate event in Peepalodi village, where the school roof collapsed. He has directed the district collector and education officer to make all necessary arrangements for the treatment of the injured. Both the collector and other officials have arrived at the scene.
The minister emphasized the need for a thorough investigation to determine the causes of the collapse. Nandkishore, the Circle Inspector of Manohar Thana police station, reported that two critically injured students have been referred to a specialized health center, while six others are receiving treatment at SRG Hospital.
Vijendra Singh, the officer in charge of Dangi Pura police station, noted that at least 27 students were enrolled at the Peepalodi village primary school. Former Chief Minister of Rajasthan, Ashok Gehlot, extended his wishes for the speedy recovery of the injured students.
He shared on social media, "Reports indicate that several children and teachers have been affected due to the collapse of a government school building in Manohar Thana, Jhalawar. I pray for the swift recovery of the injured."
