The police indicated that the incident took place around 10 PM on Sunday night in the JP Nagar locality of New Usmanpur. The couple was residing in a rented accommodation when the roof unexpectedly caved in, trapping them under the debris. Emergency responders, including police and firefighters, arrived promptly at the scene to initiate a rescue operation.
Casualties and Investigation
Authorities reported that the couple was retrieved from the rubble and transported to a hospital, where they were pronounced dead by medical staff. The deceased have been identified as Tinku, aged 32, and his wife Urmila, aged 30. The cause of the roof collapse remains undetermined at this time.
Legal Action
An investigation into the incident is currently underway. A senior police official stated that a First Information Report (FIR) has been filed against the landlord, Virender Kumar, under sections 290 (negligent conduct concerning buildings) and 106(1) (causing death by negligence) of the Indian Penal Code at the New Usmanpur police station.
