Devastating Incident in Jhalawar

A tragic incident occurred on Friday morning in Jhalawar, Rajasthan, where the roof of a primary school collapsed, resulting in the deaths of six students and injuring over 15 others. The disaster struck while the children were in class.


A large-scale rescue operation was launched at Piploadi Primary School, with police, local residents, and officials rushing to the scene. The building, which was around 20 years old, had a roof made of stone slabs, exacerbating the impact of the collapse.


Details of the Incident

The incident took place at the government school in the Manoharthana block of Jhalawar when students were gathering for morning prayers. Authorities received the first alert around 7:45 AM.


According to Jhalawar's Superintendent of Police, Amit Kumar, four children initially lost their lives, and 15 others were injured. Ten of the injured were referred to Jhalawar, with three to four in critical condition. Reports later confirmed that two more children had died, raising the death toll to six. The police stated that the children were rescued from the debris with the help of teachers and villagers. Nandkishore, the circle officer of Manoharthana, mentioned that two severely injured students were sent to a specialized health center.


Reactions and Responses

Vijendra Singh, the officer in charge of Dangipura police station, reported that at least 27 students were enrolled at the Piploadi village school. Both the Governor, Haribhai Bagde, and Chief Minister, Bhajanlal Sharma, expressed their condolences over the tragic loss of life. Sharma stated that he had directed relevant officials to ensure proper treatment for the injured.


He added, "May God grant peace to the departed souls and give strength to the grieving families to bear this immense sorrow." Education Minister Madan Dilawar announced that a high-level investigation into the incident would be conducted, instructing officials to ensure proper medical care for the children.


Official Visits and Further Condolences

The district collector and other officials arrived at the site. According to a spokesperson from the Raj Bhavan, Governor Bagde expressed his sorrow over the incident, praying for the peace of the deceased's souls and strength for their bereaved families. He also wished for the swift recovery of the injured.


Former Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot expressed his condolences on social media, stating, "Reports are coming in about casualties among several children and teachers due to the collapse of a government school building in Manoharthana, Jhalawar. I pray for the quick recovery of the injured." Opposition leader Tikaram Julie also expressed his sorrow regarding the incident.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed his grief over the loss of students in the school building collapse in Rajasthan. In a post on social media, he stated, "The accident at a school in Jhalawar, Rajasthan, is extremely tragic.
