Fatal Incidents on Odisha Roads


Bhubaneswar: Authorities reported that at least five individuals lost their lives and seven others sustained serious injuries in two distinct road accidents across Odisha on Sunday.


The incidents occurred in the districts of Koraput and Nayagarh, according to police reports.


In Koraput district, a head-on collision between two cars near Sunabeda on NH 26 resulted in four fatalities and one serious injury around 11:30 PM on Saturday. One vehicle was en route from Koraput to Damanjodi, while the other was traveling from Semiliguda to Sunabeda.


The deceased included the drivers of both cars and two passengers from one of the vehicles. The injured individual is currently receiving treatment at SLN Medical College and Hospital in Koraput.


In a separate incident on Sunday morning, a pick-up van crashed into an autorickshaw carrying kanwariyas near Darapada in Nayagarh district. This accident resulted in the death of a female kanwariya and left six others injured. The kanwariyas were on their way from Kantilo to the Ladubaba temple, as reported by the police.


A doctor from the Nayagarh district headquarters hospital stated, "Seven individuals injured in the autorickshaw accident have been admitted to our facility. One has died, while six others with serious injuries have been referred to Bhubaneswar."
