Patna, May 4: A tragic road accident in Sasaram, Bihar, has resulted in the loss of five lives, transforming a celebratory occasion into a moment of sorrow.
The victims were returning from a Tilak ceremony when the accident occurred.
This incident took place early on Monday morning in the Dinara police station jurisdiction of Rohtas district, close to Mathiya village along National Highway 319.
As per officials, a speeding truck lost control and crashed into a group of individuals around 3:00 a.m.
The group had just disembarked from a bus and had a pickup vehicle parked behind them when the truck struck, causing chaos at the scene.
Among those who lost their lives are Ramadutt Singh from Bhagwanpur village, Ashok Singh, the bride's father from Mathiya village, Pintu Singh, the bride's maternal uncle, and Rajnish Kumar.
All victims are believed to be related. Further details are pending as the investigation continues.
The identity of one victim remains unconfirmed.
Police from the Dinara station arrived promptly after being alerted and began rescue and clearance efforts.
Using a crane, they removed the damaged vehicles from the roadway, and the truck, bus, and pickup involved in the collision have been confiscated.
The deceased have been transported to Sasaram Sadar Hospital for post-mortem examinations, and an investigation into the circumstances of the accident is ongoing.
This heartbreaking event has left the affected family in despair, as a joyous wedding celebration has turned into a scene of mourning, with relatives deeply grieving the unexpected loss.
The district police have filed an FIR against the truck driver for reckless and negligent driving at the Dinara police station.
The driver responsible for the incident is currently at large, and the district police are actively pursuing efforts to apprehend him.
