Fatal Collision in Bengaluru Rural District
Bengaluru, June 13: A devastating road accident occurred in the Bengaluru Rural district on Friday, resulting in the deaths of four individuals, including two young children, after an Andhra Pradesh RTC bus collided with a truck. Sixteen others sustained injuries, with two reported to be in critical condition.
The victims have been identified as Keshava Reddy, aged 44, Tulasi, 21, four-year-old Pranathi, and one-year-old Maria. All were residents of Chittoor district in Andhra Pradesh.
The collision took place at Gottipura Gate in Hoskote taluk, located on the outskirts of Bengaluru city, along the National Highway connecting Kolar and Hoskote.
Authorities revealed that the bus, operated by the Andhra Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation, was en route from Tirupati to Bengaluru when the driver lost control while attempting to overtake, crashing into the rear of the truck, which was also traveling towards Bengaluru.
Initial investigations suggest that the driver may have fallen asleep at the wheel, leading to the tragic incident.
The bus was left severely damaged as a result of the crash. The injured parties are currently receiving medical attention at a private hospital in Hoskote, while local traffic police are conducting an investigation into the accident.
This incident follows another tragic event on May 21, where six people lost their lives in a road accident involving an SUV, a bus, and a truck in the Vijayapura district of Karnataka, near Managooli town on National Highway 50.
Additionally, on May 12, two separate accidents in Chitradurga district and Hoskote town resulted in five fatalities. In Chitradurga, three individuals, including a woman, died in a head-on collision between an Innova car and a truck. Meanwhile, in Hoskote, two people were killed, and another critically injured when an overspeeding tempo collided with a motorcycle.
