Fatal Collision in Sonitpur District


On March 23, a devastating road accident occurred in the Dhekiajuli-Rabartola region of Sonitpur district around 6:30 PM, resulting in the deaths of six individuals traveling in an ambulance. Two others sustained injuries in the incident.


The deceased have been identified as Vijay Hansa (the driver), Hari Madgi, Kunal Karmakar, Sanjita Nath, Bishwajit Nath, and Sandhyachari Nath.


The ambulance collided with a truck near Dhekiajuli town on National Highway 15, leading to the immediate fatalities of all six passengers.


Barun Purkayasta, the Senior Superintendent of Police in Sonitpur, stated, “The ambulance was transporting a patient along with family members to Tezpur Medical College and Hospital when the crash occurred. Six individuals died at the scene, and two others with serious injuries were taken to the hospital.”


Reports indicate that the ambulance, operated by Tulip Tea Estate, was heading to TMCH with six passengers, including a critically ill patient.


Shahid Manbar Nath mentioned, “All were returning from Tulip Tea Estate when the tragedy struck, resulting in the deaths of all six.”


Authorities arrived promptly at the scene to recover the bodies from the wreckage of the vehicle.


The accident led to significant traffic delays on the national highway, causing many vehicles to be stuck for hours.
