Baran. A severe road accident occurred on Monday near Indra Banda village in the Atru police station area along State Highway-51 (Kota-Dharan route), resulting in the tragic deaths of two young men. Following the incident, angry locals and family members placed the bodies on the road, leading to significant traffic congestion.

The deceased have been identified as Satish Bheel (22) and Lokesh Bheel (24), both residents of Bhilwaria village in the Chhabra sub-district. They were returning home on a motorcycle after attending a mourning gathering.

High-Speed Tractor-Trailer Collision

Reports indicate that a fast-moving tractor-trailer, transporting fly ash from a nearby factory, collided violently with their motorcycle. The impact was so severe that both young men were crushed under the trailer, resulting in their immediate deaths.

Upon learning of the accident, a large number of villagers and relatives rushed to the scene. Frustrated by the incident, they initiated a protest by blocking State Highway-51 with the deceased's bodies.

Demands for Action from Locals

Residents have expressed concerns about the frequent accidents on this route, attributing them to the reckless speed of heavy vehicles. They have made several demands to the authorities, including:

  • Strict action against heavy and overloaded vehicles

  • Financial assistance for the victims' families

  • Implementation of permanent road safety measures

Traffic Jam Resolved After Administrative Intervention

In response to the blockade, police from the Atru station and administrative officials arrived at the scene. They engaged with the villagers and assured them of necessary actions.

The administration also mentioned that they would initiate the process of providing financial aid to the families of the deceased under the road accident assistance scheme. Additionally, they promised legal action against the driver and owner of the vehicle involved.

After approximately three hours of protest, the villagers lifted the blockade. Subsequently, the police took possession of the bodies and transferred them to the mortuary at Atru Hospital for post-mortem examinations.

An investigation into the incident has commenced, with authorities looking into the circumstances surrounding the accident.
