In a heartbreaking incident, two police officers lost their lives in a road accident on the Talland-Khalini road in Shimla when their vehicle collided with a tanker, according to police reports.


The victims have been named as Head Constable Praveen Mehta and Constable Hemant Kumar, both stationed at the Police Lines Kaithu. Initial reports indicate that they were traveling in an Alto car with the registration number HP-52A at the time of the crash.


The collision was severe enough to be fatal for both officers. Authorities have taken charge of the bodies and are conducting the necessary legal procedures. An investigation is currently underway to determine the precise details and cause of the accident.


In a separate incident on Monday morning, another road accident occurred in Shimla involving a pickup truck loaded with apples near the ISBT crossing around 6 am.


The pickup was reportedly en route from Rohru to the Solan vegetable market when the mishap took place. Fortunately, both the driver and co-driver escaped with only minor injuries, avoiding more serious harm.


The police are actively investigating both accidents, and additional information is expected soon.
