Devastating News from Punjab Politics

A heartbreaking incident has emerged from Punjab's political landscape. On Thursday evening, a severe road accident occurred on the Kundli-Ghaziabad-Palwal (KGP) Expressway in Sonipat district, resulting in the deaths of Khushbaz Singh Jatana, a prominent young leader of the Punjab Congress, and his driver. According to police reports, the accident took place when a truck collided with Jatana's stationary SUV, which had stopped due to a flat tire.


The tragic event unfolded in the Kundli area of Sonipat, where the SUV was being repaired when it was struck by a speeding truck from behind. The impact was devastating, leading to the immediate fatalities of both Jatana and his driver, Parminder Singh.


Details from the Police

Assistant Police Commissioner Vipin Ahlawat confirmed that both Jatana and his driver died at the scene, while their gunman sustained injuries and is currently receiving treatment. The bodies have been sent to Sonipat Civil Hospital for post-mortem examinations.


Sethi Malik, the station chief of Kundli, stated, "We received information regarding Khushbaz Jatana's vehicle. He was traveling with his driver and gunman. It was reported that while they were changing a tire, an unidentified truck collided with their vehicle. Tragically, both Jatana and his driver lost their lives, while the gunman was injured and is being treated. They were en route from Delhi to Bathinda. The police have taken the bodies into custody for post-mortem, and we will apprehend the truck driver soon." The driver fled the scene, but police have identified the vehicle and are actively pursuing the suspect.


Condolences from Punjab Leaders

In the wake of this tragedy, Congress MP and former cabinet minister Amarinder Singh Raja Warring, along with several other leaders, visited Sonipat Civil Hospital to express their condolences. Warring shared his grief on social media, stating, "It is hard to believe that Khushbaz is no longer with us. It is profoundly sad and heartbreaking that we lost a passionate and promising young leader in a tragic road accident near Panipat today. In this moment of shock and sorrow, the entire Congress party stands with his family. This loss is irreplaceable, leaving a void that can never be filled. Opposition leader in the Punjab Assembly, Pratap Singh Bajwa, also expressed his sorrow. I closely observed his journey from a student leader to a dedicated political voice. It is truly heartbreaking that such a promising life has ended so abruptly at a young age.
