Fatal Collision in Balasore District


In a tragic incident on Friday night, an Accredited Social Health Activist (ASHA) lost her life, and her daughter was left in critical condition after their motorcycle was struck by a container truck loaded with fish in Balasore district.


The accident took place around 8 PM near Naskarpur village along the Jagannathpur-Phulbani road within the Bhograi block.


The victim has been identified as Sukanti Nayak, aged 45, who was the wife of Ramesh Nayak and hailed from Jodabali village in the Nilagiri block.


Sukanti was serving as an ASHA at the Raj Barhampur sub-centre.


She was riding as a passenger on the motorcycle when it was hit from behind by the speeding truck.


Her 23-year-old daughter suffered severe injuries in the accident.
