Rain-Induced Tragedy Strikes Uttar Pradesh

In the districts of Ballia and Muzaffarnagar, Uttar Pradesh, a series of rain-related incidents have resulted in one fatality and a three-year-old child reported missing after being swept away in a drain. Authorities provided this information on Sunday.


According to police reports, a man named Santosh Soni was sitting near a tree with two others in the Sahatwar area of Ballia when he was struck by lightning, leading to his immediate death.


The police also mentioned that two individuals, Dina Rajbhar and Lallan Chauhan, sustained injuries from the incident. Station Officer Mool Chandra Chaurasia confirmed that the body has been taken into custody and sent for an autopsy.


Meanwhile, in Muzaffarnagar, a three-year-old boy fell into a drain while playing outside during the rain in the Sher Nagar village of the New Mandi police station area on Sunday.


District Fire Officer R.K. Singh stated that a team was dispatched to the scene upon receiving the report, and a rescue operation was promptly initiated to locate the missing child.


The search for the child continues. Village head Mohammad Ikram reported that the incident occurred when Lavish, aged three, slipped into the drain during heavy rainfall and was carried away by the swift current.
