Devastating Aviation Incident in Ahmedabad

The nation is mourning following a tragic plane crash in Ahmedabad on June 12, marking one of the most catastrophic aviation disasters in recent memory. Among those feared lost is Mahesh Kalawadia, a prominent figure in the Gujarati film industry, known as Mahesh Jirawala.

Mahesh, a respected director and producer, was reportedly located just 700 meters from the crash site. His family has provided DNA samples to aid in the identification process, but official confirmation is still pending.

As the founder of Mahesh Jirawala Productions, he was celebrated for his emotionally resonant music videos and regional advertisements. His film, Cocktail Premi Pag Of Revenge, released in 2019, was well-received for its compelling storytelling and direction.

Mahesh was a dedicated family man, residing in Naroda with his wife Hetal and their two children. Hetal revealed that their last conversation occurred at 1:14 PM, shortly before the crash. Attempts to contact him afterward were unsuccessful as his phone was turned off. She expressed her confusion, stating, 'His scooter and mobile phone are still missing. The last location we traced was not a route he would take home.'

In an interview, Hetal recounted their final exchange, noting that Mahesh had gone to Law Garden to meet someone and had called her to say he was on his way back. However, just minutes later, his phone was off, coinciding with the plane's departure from Ahmedabad airport.

The Air India aircraft crashed near Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel Airport during takeoff, carrying approximately 242 individuals. The police are actively investigating the incident, which involved 169 Indian nationals, 53 British nationals, one Canadian, and seven Portuguese nationals.
