Tragic Passing of Prateek Yadav, Son of Mulayam Singh Yadav
Prateek Yadav's Untimely Demise
Prateek Yadav, the younger son of Samajwadi Party founder Mulayam Singh Yadav and half-brother to Akhilesh Yadav, passed away on Wednesday at the age of approximately 38. Family sources indicate that he was taken to the Civil Hospital in Lucknow due to health complications, where he was pronounced dead by medical staff.
The exact cause of his death remains unclear. Reports suggest that Prateek had been hospitalized earlier due to illness but had returned home after a brief recovery.
As the son of Mulayam Singh Yadav and his second wife Sadhana Gupta, Prateek was married to Aparna Yadav, a BJP leader. Despite being from a prominent political family, he maintained a distance from politics, focusing instead on his health and fitness interests. His wife, Aparna, has been active in politics and currently serves as the Vice Chairperson of the State Women's Commission.
Earlier this year, there were rumors about their divorce, but reports later indicated that they had reconciled.
Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath expressed his condolences over Prateek's passing, describing it as "deeply heartbreaking." In a post on social media, he extended his sympathies to the grieving family.
Prateek was an alumnus of the prestigious Leeds University and later ventured into business and fitness in Lucknow. He was known for running a popular gym called "The Fitness Planet" and was passionate about health and fitness. His wife, Aparna, had contested the 2017 Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections from Lucknow Cantt on a Samajwadi Party ticket but lost to Rita Bahuguna Joshi.
In 2022, she joined the BJP and was appointed as the Vice Chairperson of the Uttar Pradesh State Women's Commission in 2024. Prateek and Aparna were married in a lavish ceremony in their ancestral village Saifai in the Etawah district in 2011. Earlier this year, Prateek publicly discussed ongoing issues in their marriage, alleging that Aparna was causing strain in family relationships and that he was contemplating divorce, citing her focus on fame and influence as a source of his mental distress.
