Incident Overview

New Delhi: Authorities have detained five individuals, including bouncers and a nightclub manager along with his spouse, following the death of a man who was reportedly attacked after spilling beer on the manager's wife at a local nightclub, as confirmed by police on Tuesday.

The tragic event unfolded late on October 10 at the Tor House nightclub, located near Ashok Park Metro station, under the jurisdiction of Sarai Rohilla police. Among those arrested, three were identified as bouncers.

The victim, named Daljeet, resided in Raghuvir Nagar and is survived by his wife Pooja, their eight-year-old son, and his father.

According to police reports, Daljeet had attended the nightclub with a group of five to six friends for a celebration when an incident occurred involving a spill on the club manager's wife. This led to a heated exchange, prompting the bouncers to intervene and allegedly assault Daljeet.

Despite Daljeet and his friends apologizing and pleading for the violence to cease, they were reportedly attacked with sticks and glass bottles.

Witnesses, including Daljeet's friends, recounted that the assault continued even after they begged for mercy. One friend, Sunny, who suffered a minor head injury, described the brutality of the attack.

They claimed that when they attempted to flee, the bouncers forcibly pulled them back inside and continued the assault.

During the attack, Daljeet was reportedly doused with water while his face was covered, resulting in severe injuries, including a broken jaw.

His friends managed to get him out of the club and took him back to his home in Raghuvir Nagar. Unfortunately, Daljeet collapsed at the entrance, and his wife and friends rushed him to Guru Gobind Singh Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Police stated that Daljeet returned home feeling unwell after the incident, leading to his wife taking him to the hospital. Sunny mentioned receiving a distressing call from Daljeet's wife after the assault.

He recounted, "I received a call from his wife saying he was unresponsive, and we hurried him to the hospital, where he was declared dead."

Sunny also noted that they had viewed the CCTV footage, which was shocking, showing the severe beating Daljeet endured. He emphasized the need for strict punishment for those responsible.

Friends of the victim alleged that one of the assailants displayed a firearm during the altercation and claimed that cash and two mobile phones were stolen from them. Police are currently investigating these claims.

The group insisted that the nightclub's CCTV system recorded the incident and demanded accountability for those involved. Police have confiscated the nightclub's digital video recorder (DVR) to analyze the footage and piece together the events leading to the assault.

The family alleged that they had contacted the police during the incident, but a police vehicle arrived only to leave without conducting any inquiries. This claim is under investigation.

Authorities are also looking into whether the nightclub had the necessary permits to operate during late hours, with records requested from the Excise Department and Licensing Branch.

As the investigation progresses, police are examining the circumstances surrounding the altercation, the assault, and the subsequent death of the victim.

Pooja, the victim's wife, expressed her grief, stating that he was the family's sole provider.

"He went out with friends, and I only learned later that the bouncers had beaten him so severely that he died. I seek justice for my child and myself," she stated.

Police confirmed that further investigations are ongoing.
