Meghalaya Official's Sudden Passing
Shillong: Officials reported that Syed Md A Razi, the Principal Secretary of Meghalaya, was discovered deceased in his hotel room in Uzbekistan during a personal trip. This incident was confirmed on Tuesday.
Razi, who has been serving as an IRTS officer on assignment in the state since 2021, had been in Bukhara, Uzbekistan, since April 4.
Preliminary reports suggest that he may have succumbed to a cardiac arrest.
A senior government official indicated that Razi failed to answer phone calls on Monday morning, prompting hotel staff to force open his room door, where they found him unresponsive.
The necessary procedures are currently being carried out, and Razi's wife is on her way to Bukhara, as stated by Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma.
In a heartfelt message on X, Sangma expressed his sorrow over Razi's unexpected passing, saying, “I am deeply pained to hear about the untimely demise of Syed Md A Razi, IRTS, Principal Secretary, GoM.”
He further remarked on Razi's remarkable efficiency and commitment, noting that he approached every responsibility with a sense of ownership that motivated those around him. Sangma described Razi as a cheerful individual who illuminated the lives of those he encountered, emphasizing the deep respect and affection his colleagues held for him. His loss will be profoundly felt by all.
