The New Year commenced with sorrow in Kullu district, Himachal Pradesh, where a road accident resulted in the deaths of three individuals, including two young women, late on New Year's night. A third woman suffered severe injuries and is currently receiving medical care.
The collision took place in the early hours, between 2 and 3 am, as the group was returning from a birthday and New Year celebration in Kasol. According to police reports, the vehicle first struck a parapet near Bhootnath Temple before crashing into the back of a truck parked on the roadside, leading to this tragic event.
All four individuals in the car were from Kullu. The deceased man has been identified as Satpal, while the identities of the two women are still being confirmed. The injured woman was initially taken for treatment and later transferred to Nerchowk Medical College and Hospital in Mandi due to the severity of her injuries.
Preliminary reports indicate that December 31 was Satpal's birthday, and he had gone to Kasol with three female friends to celebrate both his birthday and the New Year. The circumstances surrounding the accident are currently under investigation.
With assistance from local residents, police teams were able to extricate all four victims from the wrecked vehicle after significant effort. Satpal was known as a tattoo artist who operated a shop in Kullu's Akhara Bazaar.
The police have taken possession of the bodies, and post-mortem examinations for the three deceased individuals are scheduled to take place at Kullu hospital on Thursday. Following this, the bodies will be returned to their families. This tragic event has brought a wave of sadness over the community, with many residents expressing their shock and sorrow over the loss of these young lives.
