Tragic Mystery: Newlywed Couple Found Dead in Madhya Pradesh
Suspicious Death of Newlyweds in Shahdol
Shahdol (Madhya Pradesh): In a shocking incident, a newly married couple from the Tribal community was discovered dead under mysterious circumstances in their home in Shahdol district, as reported by local authorities on Saturday.
The tragic event took place in Budhar town, within the Keshwahi police station area, late Friday night. The deceased have been identified as Bodhan Singh Gond, aged 25, and his wife Urmila Singh Gond, aged 21.
Upon arrival at the scene, police found the couple's bodies hanging from a ceiling fan, tied with the same rope in their bedroom. The investigation revealed that both were suspended from a single rope, raising questions about the circumstances surrounding their deaths.
The bodies were transported to Shahdol district hospital, located approximately 30 kilometers from the site, for autopsy. Following this, the Keshwahi police initiated an inquiry into the case.
While no suicide note was found, initial investigations indicated that Bodhan Singh had taken a loan from a local moneylender for their wedding, which took place in April 2024.
Reports suggest that the couple had dinner with their parents until around 10:30 PM, during which a dispute arose regarding the borrowed money. Afterward, they retreated to their bedroom. When Bodhan's father called for him to come out without receiving a reply, he grew concerned and knocked on the door. After still getting no response, he alerted neighbors, who broke a window and discovered the couple hanging.
The local police were subsequently notified, and the bodies were removed from the scene.
On Saturday morning, senior police officials and a forensic team arrived to conduct a thorough investigation. The couple's mobile phones have been seized for forensic analysis.
"The bodies have been returned to the family for last rites. A forensic team has gathered evidence from the scene, and we are interviewing family members as part of the ongoing investigation," stated Ashish Jharia, the in-charge of Keshwahi police station.
