Tragic Murder-Suicide in Latur Over Land Dispute

A horrifying incident unfolded in the Renapur area of Latur, where a son allegedly murdered his elderly mother over a dispute regarding land sale. Following the crime, he took his own life. This tragic event came to light on Thursday, and by Friday, authorities had registered a murder case against the deceased son. Both mother and son were cremated together in Sangavi.

Sequence of Events Leading to the Tragedy

Kakasaheb Venunath Jadhav, aged 48, from Sangavi, committed suicide by hanging himself from a lemon tree around 4:30 PM on Thursday. Police arrived at the scene to investigate. However, the situation escalated when, a few hours later, around 9 PM, the body of his 80-year-old mother, Samindrabai Jadhav, was discovered in a nearby field. Both bodies were sent for post-mortem and later returned to the family for the last rites, which were conducted together.

Murder Driven by Anger

Investigations revealed that Kakasaheb had been in a heated argument with his mother regarding the sale of their farmland, which she opposed. In a fit of rage, he brutally assaulted her and subsequently strangled her to death.

Covering Up the Crime

After committing the murder, Kakasaheb buried his mother's body in a sugarcane field to conceal the crime. Tragically, he ended his own life shortly thereafter. The police have now filed a murder case against the deceased son, Kakasaheb Jadhav.
