Hindu Businessman Fatally Attacked in Narsingdi


Dhaka: A 40-year-old Hindu grocery store owner was brutally murdered by unknown assailants wielding a sharp weapon in Narsingdi city, Bangladesh, as reported by local news outlets.


The attack occurred late Monday night, just hours after another Hindu businessman, who also served as the acting editor of a newspaper, was shot dead in Jessore district.


Moni Chakraborty was fatally assaulted at Charsindhur Bazar in Palash Upazila around 11 PM, according to Bdnews 24.


The officer in charge of Palash Police Station, Shahed Al Mamun, confirmed that Moni was the son of Madan Thakur from Sadharchar Union in Shibpur Upazila.


Having operated his grocery shop at Charsindhur Bazar for many years, Moni's death marks the third killing of a Hindu businessman in recent weeks.


Witnesses and police reported that Moni was attacked while returning home after closing his shop, struck down by a locally-made sharp weapon, leading to his immediate collapse.
