Incident Overview

In the Khoya Mandi area of Mahoba district, Uttar Pradesh, a tragic incident occurred on the night of February 25, 2026, when 65-year-old Kiran Purwar was murdered in her home. Kiran, who suffered from paralysis, was entirely dependent on her bed. Her husband, Santosh Purwar, a grocery store owner, was away at his shop during the incident.

Details of the Crime

Kiran's body was discovered on her bed, with her gold earrings missing, leading the police to initially suspect a robbery gone wrong.

However, a forensic team found a small piece of broken glass from a bangle at the crime scene, which became a crucial piece of evidence.

This glass fragment matched the bangles worn by Asha Raikwar (40), the maid who had been employed in the household for eight years.

Subsequently, police apprehended Asha and her 27-year-old son, Sonu, both of whom confessed to the crime during interrogation.

Motive and Method of the Murder

Asha revealed that over the past eight years, Kiran frequently scolded her over trivial matters, subjected her to humiliation, and used abusive language. Frustrated by this constant mental torment, Asha decided to take revenge.

On the night of February 25, she and her son Sonu conspired together and suffocated Kiran with a pillow. To make the murder appear as a robbery, they removed her earrings.

Police Action

Under the leadership of SP and local area officer Arun Kumar Singh, Mahoba police arrested both suspects on Sunday, March 1, 2026, and sent them to jail.

This case highlights how a small clue, like the broken bangle, can reveal the negligence of criminals.

Conclusion

This case serves as a painful example of domestic violence, mental abuse, and the desire for revenge. The entire community is in shock over this brutal murder. While the police investigation continues, the main suspects have already been apprehended.
