Tragic Murder in Odisha: Husband Kills Wife Over Infidelity Suspicions

Murder Investigation Underway in Gajapati District
Paralakhemundi: In a shocking incident, a man is accused of murdering his wife by slitting her throat and striking her with a stone, driven by suspicions of her infidelity. This tragic event unfolded early Monday morning in Gaiba village, located within the Seranga police jurisdiction of Gajapati district.
The victim has been identified as Monika Paika, the spouse of Narendra Paika, who hails from Keredanga village in the Nuagarh block of Gajapati.
Following the crime, Narendra reportedly fled the scene with Monika's gold mangalsutra. Authorities were alerted, and a team from the Seranga police, along with forensic experts, promptly arrived to initiate an investigation.
A formal case has been filed, and the body has been sent for a post-mortem examination. Police are actively pursuing leads to capture the suspect, as stated by Seranga IIC Pramod Khandual.
Reports indicate that Narendra and Monika were married in a traditional ceremony in 2019. After their marriage, they settled in Gaiba, where Narendra operated a grocery store. However, due to financial difficulties, he relocated to Hyderabad two years ago for employment.
Recently, he returned to his hometown with Monika and their daughter to celebrate the Thakurani Yatra festival. After the festivities, the family returned to Monika's parental home.
Sources reveal that Narendra had become increasingly distrustful of Monika and insisted she accompany him back to their village. Their relationship had been strained by frequent disputes over this issue, but Monika opted to remain at her parental home. The tragic incident occurred while Monika's mother was out bathing and her father had taken their daughter to a nearby village, leaving the couple alone.
Seizing the opportunity, Narendra committed the murder and fled. His mother-in-law returned just in time to discover her daughter lying in a pool of blood, prompting her to raise an alarm. Despite villagers conducting a search, the accused remains at large.
