Tragic Murder Case in Karnataka: Man Arrested for Girlfriend's Death

Incident Overview
In Karnataka, a 28-year-old man has been arrested for allegedly murdering his girlfriend, who was pressuring him to marry her. The police reported that he buried her body to destroy evidence.
The incident came to light following a police investigation, leading to the suspect's arrest on Sunday. This tragic event reportedly occurred six months ago.
Victim and Suspect Details
The victim has been identified as Madhushree Angadi, 26, from Narayanapura village in Gadag taluk. The accused, Satish Hiremath, is also a resident of the same village, and the couple had been in a relationship for six years.
Family Concerns and Disappearance
According to police, Madhushree's parents disapproved of her relationship with Satish and sent her to stay with relatives in Gadag. On the night of December 16, 2024, she left her relative's home and went missing.
A missing person report was filed at the Betageri police station on January 12, 2025.
Details of the Crime
Gadag's Superintendent of Police, B.S. Namegouda, stated that Madhushree was pressuring Satish to marry her, which led to frequent arguments between them.
During the investigation, it was revealed that on the night of December 16, the accused took Madhushree to a farmhouse near Narayanapura, where they had a dispute, and Satish strangled her to death.
Cover-Up Attempts
After the murder, Satish buried her body and denied any knowledge of her whereabouts. To avoid suspicion, he began working at a petrol station and periodically returned to the crime scene to dispose of her remains, attempting to destroy evidence.
The police uncovered the case through technical evidence, noting that a message from Madhushree's phone contradicted Satish's statements, raising suspicions.
Arrest and Ongoing Investigation
Following questioning, Satish confessed to the crime, prompting police to visit the crime scene. A senior police officer stated that once they received information about the incident, they registered a murder case and initiated a thorough investigation.
Initially, Satish claimed he had dropped Madhushree off on a two-wheeler in the outskirts of the city and was unaware of her subsequent whereabouts. Police suspected they might have eloped, but the lack of contact with Madhushree raised doubts.
After confirming all evidence, the police arrested the suspect. Some of Madhushree's remains have been recovered, but her skull is still missing. Forensic examinations and interrogations are ongoing.
