Severe Accident on Yamuna Expressway

Yamuna Expressway Accident Live Update: A devastating road accident has occurred on the Yamuna Expressway in Mathura, Uttar Pradesh. Reports indicate that four individuals have lost their lives, and 23 others have sustained injuries. The incident was caused by dense fog, leading to multiple vehicles colliding with each other. Following the collisions, several vehicles caught fire, with flames engulfing seven vehicles.


Due to the fog, 11 vehicles collided on the expressway, including five buses that were involved in the fire. The district administration has confirmed the deaths of four people. Additionally, 25 individuals have been reported injured. Those with serious injuries have been admitted to SN Medical College in Agra, while others are being treated at the district hospital. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath expressed his condolences regarding the incident and announced a compensation of ₹2 lakh for the families of the deceased. Injured individuals will receive proper medical care and ₹50,000 in assistance. The Chief Minister has also instructed measures to prevent accidents caused by fog. The District Magistrate noted that speed limits were not adhered to despite the fog conditions.


Details of the Incident
The accident occurred early in the morning when a car suddenly collided with the divider due to the thick fog. Shortly after, a bus crashed into the same car, triggering a chain reaction involving several buses and smaller vehicles. The impact was so severe that it resulted in immediate fires breaking out in the vehicles. In total, eight buses and three cars were involved in the collision, with five buses completely destroyed by the flames.

SSP Shlok Kumar reported that two buses were completely burned, along with two to three smaller vehicles. Firefighters worked diligently to control the blaze. Traffic on this section of the expressway has come to a standstill, and vehicles are being diverted to alternative routes. An eyewitness recounted that the buses were fully loaded with passengers. He was asleep when a loud explosion occurred, and the fire spread rapidly. The exact cause of the fire remains unclear, but dense fog is considered the primary factor.

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has taken note of the Mathura road accident. He expressed his condolences to the bereaved families and instructed officials to expedite relief efforts at the scene.
