Chamba district is experiencing a troubling trend with a series of road accidents that show no signs of abating. Over the past month, there have been more than seven incidents, resulting in the loss of over a dozen lives.
Late last night, around 11 p.m., two young men on a motorcycle near Sahu ITI reportedly lost control and fell nearly 500 feet into the gorge of the Sal River. Rescue teams successfully retrieved 17-year-old Shubham, who was in critical condition, and transported him to the hospital for urgent medical care. Meanwhile, the search continues for 19-year-old Saksham, who is still unaccounted for.
Both individuals are believed to be from Saru, Chamba, and were returning home after attending the Minjar fair when the unfortunate incident took place.
Rescue operations are being carried out by teams from the NDRF, Chamba Police, Fire Department, and Himachal Home Guard, who are meticulously searching the river and its surrounding areas to find the missing youth.
Officials are urging residents and travelers to exercise caution, as the district has been plagued by frequent accidents on its steep and winding roads.
