Tragic Minibus Collision in Dubai Claims Lives of Indian Workers

Dubai: A tragic accident occurred on Monday when a minibus crashed into a truck that had unexpectedly halted on a road in Dubai, resulting in the deaths of several Indian workers, according to local authorities.
The Indian Consulate in Dubai expressed its sorrow over the incident via a post on X, stating, "Deeply saddened by the tragic road accident in Dubai that claimed the lives of several Indian workers."
The consulate is collaborating with local officials to ensure that all necessary assistance is provided.
Brigadier Juma Salem bin Suwaidan, who oversees the General Department of Traffic at Dubai Police, reported that initial investigations indicated the truck had stopped abruptly on Emirates Road due to a mechanical failure.
He noted, "The bus driver, who apparently did not maintain a safe distance, collided with the truck from behind."
The collision resulted in seven fatalities and nine injuries, with five individuals suffering serious injuries and four sustaining moderate injuries. All injured parties were promptly taken to the hospital for medical care.
Officials from the Indian mission visited the hospital to check on the injured workers.
The mission extended its condolences, stating, "Our heartfelt condolences and prayers are with the grieving families during this difficult time."
Brigadier Juma Salem mentioned that specialists from the Traffic Accident Investigation Section were sent to the site to collect detailed evidence to ascertain the precise causes of the accident.
He added that traffic patrols managed the flow of vehicles, secured the area, and facilitated the arrival of emergency services. Recovery teams also worked to clear the wrecked truck and bus to restore normal traffic conditions.
